What's Cooking in October?

Wednesday, October 26 Becky's Healthy Kitchen presents a class to celebrate fall harvest. In this class you will make things like soup, roasted meat and learn about what is in season: parsnips, rutabagas, and pumpkins. If you love comfort foods made healthy, this class is for you. Class size is limited to 15 participants. The September class SOLD OUT so make your reservations soon! Class time is 6:30 - 8:30. Contact Becky to reserve your seat!

Sweet Saturdays in October! We had such a good time in September, we're doing it again in October! Monon Coffee Company (Downtown only!) and Indy's Kitchen invite you to experience sweet offerings from our Entrepreneurs every Saturday in October from 10:00 - Noon. Stop in and enjoy a treat with your coffee or pick up desserts for the weekend.

September Events at Indy's Kitchen!


Monday September 12 ShoeFly Supper Club offers a three-course meal for the cost of $25. The cost includes water, iced tea and coffee. Coke products and bottled water are available for $1.00 or BYOB. The menu this month is Spicy Green Papaya Spring Roll, Chilled Pad Thai Noodle and Thai Chili Beef with Asian Broccoli. For an additional $3, you can enjoy Sweet Sticky Rice and Cocunut Custard. Seating is at 6:30. Contact Craig soon, he sells out early!

Wednesday September 28 Becky's Healthy Kitchen presents International Flavors cooking class. This class will feature dishes that will take you around the world. The dishes focus on Indian, Asian and Italian cuisines. You will also learn about new spices and seasonings while expanding your recipe repertoire. If you have a taste for adventure or want to expand your culinary palette, contact Becky. The class meets from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Class size is limited to 15 participants.

Owner: Ronda Valentine-Thompson: Mini Cinnamon Puffs, bite sized muffins with cinnamon, sugar, and nutmeg and bite-sized blueberry muffins.

September 10 Cup Pies by Indy Pie Dream
Owner: Susan Deaver: Single serving "cup pies" in a variety of flavors, using only the freshest and most natural ingredients. All pies are trans-fat free!

September 17 Cookies by Somethin' Sweet
Owner: Keme Henderson: Six different varieties of cookies including her most famous, Strawberry Lemonade.

September 24 Assorted Italian Goodies by The Piccola Chef
Owner: Chea Carmack: Sweet & savory scones, Italian cookies,and your choice of sandwiches: Gourmet Chicken salad croissant or Muffaletta Sicilian sandwich. She'll also offer traditional Cannoli's and Tiramisu.

August Events at Indy's Kitchen!

Monday August 15 ShoeFly Supper Club offers a three-course meal for the cost of $25. The cost includes water, iced tea and coffee.  Coke products and bottled water are available for $1.00 or BYOB. The menu this month is handmade Mozzarella, Balela (Middle Eastern Bean and Fresh Herb Salad), Grilled Salmon with Cucumber, Potato, Feta and Dill.  Dessert is Black Bottom Fluffernutter Parfait for an additional $3.00.  Seating is at 6:30. Wednesday August 24 Becky's Healthy Kitchen presents Skinny Sweets: All about healthy desserts. Becky's cooking classes are tips, techniques and recipe demonstrations plus generous samples.  Contact Becky soon - this class is sure to fill quickly.  Also, check out her website for details for her classes in September and October.

August Food Events in Indianapolis


Saturday August 13 - 11:00 am - 3:00 pm Taste of the Trucks 2011 at 61st and Broadway Park in Broad Ripple. Come sample the best "on-the-go" food that Indianapolis has to offer. Scratchtruck, Mabel On the Move, Duos and Groovy Guys Fries will be there. This is your chance to try the food offered by these new food Entrepreneurs. The event is sponsored by Intelligent Designs Media. Free admission to the park, you just pay at each truck.

Sunday August 28 - 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm Dig-In, A Taste of Indiana at the White River State Park. Indiana growers and producers team with local chefs to create signature dishes. Advance tickets available at Marsh and online. Don't miss this Celebration of Indiana Food!

It's unbelievable but Indy's Kitchen opened its doors last July on the 17th. Lil Chef's Academy Something new and exciting for kids ages 5-12. A two hour session taught by a trained culinary chef that includes hands-on food preparation as well as eating! This unique culinary experience is designed to teach the FUNdamentals of cooking and nutrition. If your child missed this class last month, contact Vikki so they can be included in the fun.
